Sensei - Bob Gilmore

Sensei Robert Gilmore teaches at the Boise Dojo, in Boise, Idaho. The dojo was established in 1979 by Sensei Robert Rudeen. Sensei Rudeen was followed by Sensei Marvin Shimatsu and then by Sensei Robert Smith. Sensei Gilmore started training with IKL in 1995 and earned his Shodan in 2002. He trained directly under both Sensei Shimatsu and Sensei Smith. He took over the duties of sensei in June of 2013. He served as Regional Director for Region Six before assignment by Shihan to the Yudansha Board of Governors. He also holds the position of Board Secretary.

Dr. Robert Gilmore has a Bachelor’s Degree in Bacteriology and a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Idaho. He has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Washington State University. He established the Eastgate Pet Clinic in Boise Idaho in 1986, and practiced there until his retirement in 2021. He is married to Dr. Mary Fowler, who is also a veterinarian. They have two adult children and one grandson. His hobbies include collecting antique Japanese swords and Bronze Age & Early Iron Age weapons, as well as the literature and references needed to support the collection.
