Dime Box Dojo

Jacob Badertscher, 37, is the Senpai (Instructor) of the Dime Box, Texas, Dojo. His martial arts training began about 10 years ago in Austin, Texas, under Sifu Tony Morel at the Yama Kan school of Kajukenbo. After training with Sifu Morel for about 3 years, he then switched to Kenpo Karate training under Sifu Brian Duffy in South Austin. It is during this time (2018), while on vacation in Hawaii on the Big Island, he was looking for a martial arts school to train with, that he met Hanshi Julian Shiroma teaching Karate in Kailua-Kona. After asking permission to join the class in progress, Jacob received his first introduction to IKL Karate.

Since that first day, Jacob kept in contact with Shiroma Hanshi, ultimately joining IKL officially in 2021. In 2022 Jacob Senpai started his Dime Box, Texas Karate Class. Shiroma Hanshi trains Jacob and his students via Whats Ap and Face Time. Jacob also receives one-on-one intensive training every year when he vacations in Hawaii. In Hawaii, Jacob Senpai and his family have immersed themselves in it’s culture, the Aloha Spirit, and the values of Ohana.

Jacob Senpai is a Sheriff’s Deputy in Lee County Texas. Through the Sheriff’s Department, Jacob is working on becoming a certified Gracie Jiujitsu Instructor for Law Enforcement Officers.
