Sensei - Marc Pease

Pease Sensei, Nanadan (7th degree Black Belt) began training karate in 1986 under Sensei Norman Armstrong, founder of Ten-Chi Kenpo Karate in Ontario, CA. Having to stop training the following year due to family logistics, the spark that was ignited to seek martial arts resulted in him finding IKL in 1989 when he began training at the Rialto, CA dojo under Sensei Doris Kaufman.
He took over instruction of the Rialto dojo in 1994, and started training aikido and karate under Sensei Mike Smith at the IKL Moreno Valley dojo that same year, until 1997 when Pease Sensei moved to Massachusetts to further his career in software development. The seeking of martial arts continued as he trained on the weekends with fellow IKL Black Belt Tom Thompson, and trained during the week with a Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu karate and kobudo school in the town of Waltham where he worked. Finding his way back to Southern California in 2000, he returned to training with IKL in Moreno Valley. In 2007, Smith Sensei retired and Pease Sensei stepped up as head instructor, eventually moving the dojo to San Diego County in 2011. The current dojo location has been at the Encinitas Community Center since 2017.
Pease Sensei is currently employed as a Senior IT Manager with the medical device manufacturer Becton Dickinson (BD). He and his wife, Jaimee, have 2 sons: Adrien and Toren. Jaimee has trained with IKL in the past, and both Adrien and Toren now train with him at the dojo in Encinitas.
