The Seminar will focus on Kata, Kobudo, Kumite, and “Senseis Turn to Train”.
Minimum Eligibility for Kata training:
Student should know Pinan Shodan and ready to learn Pinan Nidan. Others will work on the next Kata they are ready to learn.
Minimum Eligibility for Kobudo training:
Student should be ready to learn Ke-bo No Kata (Shihan’s Stick Kata) and have a straight stick, length ranging from 20″ to 26″, 1″ – 1 1/4″ diameter, OR ready to learn Bo, Tonfa (pair), Sai (pair), Nunchaku (single or pair), Kama (pair with wrist strap/cords), Two Stick Kata, or the Oar. Student must bring their own weapon or arrangements made to borrow someone’s weapon.
Minimum eligibility for Kumite training:
Student must be ready to learn jiyu-kumite (free style sparring). Protective equipment mandatory and some optional, see below.
Schedule:
9 – 10:30 Senseis Turn to Train (Kata & Kata Bunkai)
10:30 – 10:45 Short break, assign Senseis to teach subject
10:45 – Noon Students arrive and train in Kata
12 – 12:45 Lunch break (BYOB – bring your own brunch, there will be no concession)
No eating/drinking in the gym. Bring folding chair and other picnic type accessories for your comfort.
12:45 – 1:45 Students train in Kobudo
1:45 – 3:15 Students train in Kumite.
Note: Member needs to have sparring equipment to participate, e.g., hand pads/mitts, mouthpiece, cup & supporter for males, headgear if your level includes contact to the face and head. Other protective equipment, e.g., chest protector, shin guards, foot pads, forearm pads, headgear, etc., are optional.
General Release/Waiver of Liability Forms:
Every participant must complete, sign, and submit these forms by Nov. 5, 2022, 9:00 am. Dojo Senseis are to ensure that each member of their dojo have these forms completed and submitted to Shiroma Hanshi in a manila envelope with a cover sheet affixed to the outside that lists the participants with check marks that they submitted both forms.
